Damaan Humanitarian Organization started as a group of activists; with professional backgrounds from the UN, ICRC and medical field, in 2011 and later developed to an established NGO in the besieged areas in Syria with a special focus on Eastern-Ghouta in the countryside of Damascus.Damaan Humanitarian Organization is officially registered with the Syrian Interim Government under license No 10006. In 2016, having fulfilled the requirements of the Dutch authorities, the organization was registered in the Netherlands as a foundation under the Chamber of Commerce registration number Kvk 67513026 and RSIN 8570.41.319.
In 2017, Damaan Humanitarian Organization was recognized as a Public Benefit Organization “PBO – ANBI in Dutch”. The recognition enables us to benefit from a number of tax advantages:
PBO does not pay Dutch inheritance tax or gift tax on inheritances or gifts that the institution allocates to the general good.
PBO does not pay Dutch gift tax on gifts that the institution makes for the general good.
Natural and legal persons making donations to a PBO may deduct their gifts from their Dutch income tax or corporate income tax.
